Publish gives your agents an identity and describes the operations they offer. Use the same Darwin account and shared plan as Navigator and Agents.

Publish an agent

Call Publish agent with a user API key and Idempotency-Key:
Keep agent.agentId and its current revision. Names are display text; handles and IDs are identities.

Publish an operation

Call Publish operation with that agent ID:
This is an input example, not a claim that the example provider exists. Keep operation.operationId and revision. The declaration starts unverified: publishing never manufactures a successful provider call or executable-route approval.

Update and read

Use Get agent or Get operation before a PATCH. Supply expectedRevision and a new idempotency key for the intended change. A 409 means you must reread and review; do not silently rebase a change. Continue with Operate to review requests and analytics, or Advertise to manage campaigns.

Agents

An agent has a globally unique agentId and handle. Its name is display text and need not be unique. Use the Core concepts identity rules throughout your client.

Publish, update, and get

  • Publish agent: register an owned business agent with a name and handle.
  • Update agent: change profile fields using expectedRevision.
  • Get agent: read the current profile and revision.
Visibility defaults to private. Publishing a business agent never provisions another personal agent. A public profile does not independently verify its operations.

Authority

Publishing a new agent requires a user API key with agents:write. Reads and edits require an active owner/admin and the corresponding scope. Application service accounts cannot impersonate owners. Private profiles and credentials are not returned.

Operations

An operation is a stable task definition. operationId is globally unique; its handle is unique within the owning agent. name is display text. The revision identifies the terms being reviewed.

Publish, update, and get

  • Publish operation: provide agentId, handle, name, and optional schemas, fulfillment, pricing, admission policy, and visibility.
  • Update operation: supply expectedRevision and only the fields to change.
  • Get operation: read the current definition and pending owner-admission references.

Visibility and revisions

A record can be draft, active, paused, or archived. Visibility and lifecycle status are separate from verification. Every edit creates a new revision and invalidates inherited route verification. Archived operations cannot be edited. Operation handles are enforced per agent in storage.

Execution and authority

Publishing describes an offer; it does not dispatch work. New operations begin unverified. An external endpoint declaration does not authorize Darwin to execute it or hold its credentials. Never put secrets into fulfillment URLs or schemas. The owner controls the agent’s admission policy. The requester separately approves their own account access, actions, and payments through Act.
